If you are ready to plan ahead for Thanksgiving or have a dinner party this fall, here’s a very simple tablescape you can put together quickly. I put this one together with whatever I had at home, mostly from dollar store items.
The best part of this tablescape was that my kids made these beautiful mason jar lanterns as an art project and they fit in perfectly with this look.

I started with a simple white vase that I got from the dollar spot at target. Added a few fall flowers from the dollar tree and finalized with an orange ribbon to tie in all the orange colors.
When you see rustic wreaths at the dollar store, you must pick them up for fall. We have found so many ways to use these! I placed one on each side of the vase. Wrap leaf garland all the way around and add a few small pumpkins around the center.

The kids were so proud that their art projects made it into such a special occasion!
Here’s what you need to make these beautiful mason jar lanterns:
- Mason Jar with cover
- Pretty tissue paper, different patterns, cut into 1”-2” pieces
- School glue
- Paint brush
- Baker’s twine or ribbon
Step 1 – Mix a small amount of school glue and the same amount of water.
Step 3 – Using a brush, spread the glue mixture onto a small area of the jar.
Step 4 – Immediately glue on different colors of the tissue paper (mixing the colors and patterns). Continue doing this until the entire jar is covered. Let dry
Step 5 – Tie the twine to both ends of the jar cover and twist onto the mason jar.

For the place setting, I used a plaid pattern with a gorgeous sparkle to them. I found these at Home Goods but you can buy a similar look here. Layer on classic off white plates with slight gold trim.
These rustic tree napkin holders add the perfect touch to this fall tablescape. Pull out a few leaves from the garland and write your guest’s name on it. Simply stick it into the napkin ring.
