Fall is here and we love to casually stroll the aisles of Dollar Tree to see what we can make. It’s a dangerous place:) The last time my daughter came with me to Dollar Tree, she fell in love with a tiny stuffed owl. And then that became this gorgeous 3 tiered owl-themed stand perfect for fall.
We appreciate every share!
The same thing happened to Danny recently. She found a bag of small wooden sticks. She grabbed a bunch knowing we could make something really cute. We ended up making this beautiful fall sign for the porch.
Here’s what you need:
- 4 pumpkin signs
- 1 bag of wooden sticks
- Masking tape
- Circle stickers
- Spray paint – 2-3 different colors. We chose orange, grey, and white.
- Old wood plank. Anything sturdy you have lying around will do. Just need to make sure it’s long enough to fit all 4 pumpkins.
For this particular project, you will be using the backside of the pumpkin. This way you have a clean slate to start with.
Step 1 – Add the masking tape.
Use the masking tape to establish the patterns you want. We chose to alternate stripes, chevron zig-zag, circles, and squares.

Step 2 – Paint!
Spray paint all 4 pumpkins. We did 4 orange, 1 grey, and 1 white. Let it dry.
Step 3 – Remove the tape.
Once fully dry, carefully remove the masking tape so that it comes off leaving clean lines.

Step 4 – Add the wood sticks.
Form each letter with the wood sticks making sure they fit on the pumpkin. Then glue them down with hot glue.
Step 5 – Put it all together.
Once all the letters are done, secure each pumpkin to the wooden plank with hot glue. For the final touch, turn the little leaves at the top towards the brand new side of the pumpkin.
You can easily make this sign with any color combination or pattern. Think of all the possibilities!
