It’s our favorite time of the year! Danny and I are obsessed with Christmas trees so we are always looking to place one more tree :). Well this year we began with the gorgeous sparkly little girls Christmas tree right in my daughter’s bedroom.
As soon as I told Amelia we were doing this, we got super excited. Adding a Christmas tree in a child’s bedroom can bring so much joy. For me, there are two major reasons to put together a children’s themed tree:
First, this gets them excited for bed! I actually didn’t have to tell Amelia to get ready for bed. Every night after she took a shower, she shut off her lights, plugged in her tree, and happily laid in bed. Well, what parent wouldn’t want this??
Secondly, you can help keep the magic of Santa and your child’s elf alive throughout the month of December. Have your little girl’s elf leave cute little gifts for her. Nothing fancy, small items from the dollar store will do. Plus there are extra elf hiding spots in the tree.
Tips For An Unforgettable Children’s Bedroom Christmas Decor
Little Girls’ Christmas Tree Tip #1 – Get her involved.
Remember, this time of the year is about cherishing those special moments with family. Putting together this little girl’s Christmas tree was the perfect time to start this. So put the devices away and make a plan.
Amelia was super excited so she was fine to put down the iPad for hours to help me put this together. We worked together on picking the theme, unpacking all the Christmas lights, and even wrapping the gifts.
Little Girls’ Christmas Tree Tip #2 -Make Your Own Ornaments
For craft obsessed people, the ornaments must match the wrapping paper. I know, you can call us crazy but it looks so good! So the easiest way to do this is to make your own ornaments out of the same exact wrapping paper.
So on a lazy Sunday afternoon, we used this beautiful pink and grey wrapping paper from Wrapaholic to make these cute ornaments. Wrapaholic has an incredible line of good quality holiday wrapping paper. They come in sets of four patterns so it’s perfect for DIY Christmas ornaments.
Here’s how we upcycled used ribbon rolls to make cute ornaments. Nothing goes to waste!
First, take apart the ribbon roll so that the flat parts are pulled away from the tube. These pieces will become the foundations for the ornaments.
For the flat parts, trace the circle shape onto the paper.
You will need 2 pieces of wrapping paper – one for each side. Cut out the circles and glue them onto the flat piece of ribbon roll. Hole punch the top and add ribbon.
You can also cut out a triangle from the paper and glue it onto a rectangle and added a simple bow at the bottom.
You can still use the round cardboard to make any shape ornament. Simply measure a triangle or square that is larger than the circle. It will still hold the paper together.
For the roll part, you will wrap this with one long piece of wrapping paper. Cut out a long piece of paper that is 1 inch thick, and about 1 foot long. Glue one end of the paper to the inside of the roll.
Then continue threading the paper around the roll. Add a simple ribbon.
Last but not least we made this very simple garland from the wrapping paper. All you have to do is cut 1 inch thick paper that is about 6-8 inches long. Tape them together like rings.
Remember, you can make these simple ornaments for any color theme! Here are more beautiful holiday patterns by Wrapaholic.

Little Girls’ Christmas Tree Tip #3 – Incorporate her toys.
We added some of Amelia’s stuffed animals throughout the tree. Amelia loved that they had a little home in the tree.
Little Girls’ Christmas Tree Tip #4 – Continue the theme throughout the little girl’s bedroom.
For extra sparkle, we add this cute little village on the top of her headboard shelf. Most of these items you can get at your local dollar store.
Here’s a list of what you can pick up:
- Small 1 foot Christmas tree
- Small tree topper

You can do this on any shelf, window sill, or table.
