I love simple decorations for summer because they can be so simple. Adding pops of color to anything automatically changes the feel and brings out the bright colors of summer. You can spice up your backyard decor by doing three simple things:
- Incorporate bright colors
- Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns
- Use fruit to add color and texture

Starfish Patio Table Setting
There’s a great summer table setting for your patio. For this, we used a combination of plate set and piled them on top of each other in order to bring in all the colors.
The first thing you need is a colorful placemat. The more colors the better. The solid plates will counterbalance the pattern.
Then begin layering the plates in order to incorporate multiple colors. This bright serving tray adds a nice foundation and depth to the place setting. You can even use a small dessert plate under the water or wine glasses.
Brighten up the napkin with a fun color band and some decorative starfish.
For additional decor, add some of these fake starfish around the table. Finally, add more pops of color with limes and lemons. Quickly pile them up in small glass vases or small crates.
Simple Lemonade Serving Set
Here’s another example of combining white colors and patterns to make a beautiful summer setting. Serve your guests some refreshing lemonade with this simple small serving tray. Add lemons and limes for some bright coloring and a simple snack on the side.
Below the serving tray, we used beautiful bright teal travel napkins. Again, feel free to combine beautiful patterns. Finish off with the summer look by adding these beautiful starfish accent pillows.
