Tips and Tricks for a Communion Party at Home
Some folks get stressed out about throwing parties at home but if you do it right, it can be pretty easy and you have more freedom to do what you want. There are no limits on the amount of people, the decor is totally up to you, and you are building memories in your home! Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure a stress-free communion party at home:
*Prepare Early – You know most communions are held in May so you need to backtrack to make sure you have plenty of time to get everything done. Plus, springtime is an exciting time. You can easily piggyback off of all the vibrant spring decor.
*Keep it Inexpensive – As you will see below, we found a lot of the decor and favors right at the Dollar Tree.

*Add Personal Touches – You are home, use your items to your advantage! Display all the picture frames with photos of your child throughout the party area.

*Pre-made Communion Decor and Kits – As far as decor is concerned, we obviously do a lot of DIY but it doesnβt mean you canβt have the same look if you buy the pre-made items. Take a look at these amazing decor kits that already come with everything you need to make a beautiful communion party.

DIY Communion Party Ideas For Girl
For my daughterβs communion, I knew I wanted to do some sort of purple decor. Itβs perfect timing for this color because there are so many decor items from Easter you can use. Can you believe we put together this gorgeous DIY communion decor almost all from Dollar Tree? Hereβs How we did it!
Elegant Dollar Tree Communion Decorations
God Bless Banner
This banner is easy to make yourself. All you need is 2 shades of purple cardstock, white cardstock, silver ribbon, and these PRE-CUT LETTER STICKERS. Cut the banner panels just slightly bigger than the letters. Alternate each panel color starting with the dark purple, then light purple, and finally white. Use a hole puncher to cut two holes on each panel and weave the silver ribbon through each one.

DIY Floral Cross
The key to this beautiful floral cross is to combine all the shades of purple available with greenery. As soon as the spring items became available at Dollar Tree, we stocked up. We spent about 30 dollars on all the flowers and a few dollars on the square foam pieces, and a white foam board. The first thing we did was cut the white board into the shape of the cross. Then we hot glued the foam squares onto the white board, forming the same shape. Then, we filled the foam with flowers and lots of greenery.

Sparkle Tip:
Get enough flowers to use on the cross and on the centerpieces to match. Check them out below.

Floral Centerpieces
For the guest table, we made these simple centerpieces with the same flowers. All you need is a cylinder, decorative rocks and the flowers. In the middle, we place a beautiful silver cross.

Easy DIY Favors
We found these beautiful candles at Dollar Tree so I simply added a label with a pretty ribbon for a simple and easy favor. We handed these to the adults and then made cute candy cups for the kids. All you have to do is fill up plastic cups with your favorite candy. We chose Hershey Kisses and mints because they are more allergy friendly (my daughter has many food allergies) and they matched the decor. Stick the bowl inside a favor bag and tie with ribbon. Again, we found all of this at the dollar store!

Custom Photo Prop
We thought it would be a cute idea to do a custom photo frame to commemorate Ameliaβs 1st communion. All you need is a foam board from the dollar store, cardstock, and some florals from the dollar store. I used these SMALL SILVER LETTERS for the words at the top.

Easy Communion Dessert
Cake
At the center of the dessert table was a beautiful white cake. We had the bakery add fresh flowers and some greenery to match the rest of the decor. We used THIS CAKE TOPPER to finish the look.

Brownies
Does it look like we baked these? Because we didnβt. These are store bought brownies that we just cut up into smaller pieces and then added mini cupcake toppers from the same package above.

Fruit Cups
Very simple and healthy, just add a few different fruits to a small bowl from Dollar Tree.

Communion Party At Home – Boy Edition
If you have a boy and are looking to throw the communion party at home, check out the rustic theme we put together for my son. The centerpiece of this decor was a gorgeous custom scroll that hung from the ceiling. The key to this rustic decor was lots of babyβs breath. We combined it with many wood tones. This is a great gender neutral theme for any child.Get all the details in this communion party for boys.
